I came from Canada as an exchange student to study at Sophia University for a year. While here, I chose to continue doing what I had been doing a bit of in my own country; I began tutoring people in English. As a business student, I know what it takes to succeed in an academic environment linguistically, but moreover I just have a passion for language. It's been a pleasure being able to share that passion with students from so many different demographics within Tokyo, and I feel that each of my students has shown a marked improvement in their ability to use English effectively. I had worked as a waiter for three years in Canada, so I am good at dealing with and talking to people I don't know on a daily basis, and I try to use that experience to enhance my lessons for my students.

"I am from America, where I study Linguistics at Boise State University. Right now, I am spending a year abroad, studying at Hosei University.

I really enjoy working for IHCWAY. The flexibility of the schedule, plus the process they use for matching students to teachers makes this job even more enjoyable. I especially like how the lessons are 1-on-1, allowing the teacher to focus on the students individual problems, allowing for quicker correction and learning.

It is my pleasure to giving lessons to students, feeling their progress lesson by lesson ! I am very happy to know that many Japanese are interested in french language and culture.

I am graduate of a French National Conservatory of music. 10 years in France as a musician and music teacher, and three years as a french teacher in China and in Japan, I am now colaborate with IHCWAY. The IHCWAY idea is open mind, confortable, good for students who want to learn foreign languages.

C'est une satisfaction indescriptible que celle d'enseigner le français, et constater au quotidien les progrès des étudiants. Quel plaisir de découvrir l'intérêt toujours grandissant de nombreux japonais pour la culture française.
Diplômé d'un premier prix de conservatoire, j'ai enseigné pendant dix ans la musique en France. Après avoir passé 3 années en Chine et au Japon en tant que professeur de français, je suis aujourd'hui très heureux de collaborer avec IHCWAY.
L'enseignement IHCWAY est synonyme d'ouverture d'esprit et de confort. Des notions indispensables pour étudier une langue étrangère.

"My name is Fred and I'm from America. I was born and raised near New York City and later moved to San Francisco, California.

I worked as a professional photographer for the last 15 years before moving to Japan.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Japanese from San Francisco State University. I really enjoy being an IHCWAY teacher.

I am from the UK and had been travelling for three years doing a variety of backpacker jobs before arriving in Japan last year. Searching for private students on my own was not easy, so I was very happy to find IHCWAY.

Soon after joining I was quickly introduced to many students only a short train ride away from my home. For me the best part about working for IHCWAY has been meeting friendly students from such a wide range of backgrounds.

The relaxed cafe lessons have allowed me to really get to know them and plan lessons around their interests. I also love the freedom to set my own schedule and work independently, yet still have the terrific support of a well established company whenever I need it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as an IHCWAY teacher and feel grateful to have had the opportunity to work for them.

I come from the US, where I study Japanese at the University of Massachusetts. Currently, I'm studying abroad at the International Christian University here in Tokyo.

I have experience with teaching, especially with children, having worked at camps, religious education classes, and English language tutoring.

I like IHCWAY's one-on-one nature, because I think it helps the teachers work on their student's specific problems and improve their English even more.

Reference check

For the reference check, we only accept them by emails.
When you go back to your country and apply for a position at some companies,
if you don't inform us in advance and we were contacted from them for the reference check,
we will not be able to take the request.
We are not able to give a reference for the worker whose working conditions were not sufficient or
who didn't fulfill the obligation to submit the weekly teaching plan and bi-monthly teaching report.

How to confirm the student ID number

Regarding to how to confirm the student ID number.
When the membership registeration is completed,every student will receive
an email informing their ID number from IHCWAY,so please ask them to
forward the same email to you. Student's ID should be written in the weekly
plan and bi-monthly report every time and always be updated.

Working for IHCWAY has been both an opportunistic and fun experience. Having both the security of a professional company combined with the convenience of private lessons has been so beneficial for my college life. I can fit my lessons around my school schedule, and not have to worry about anything other than teaching the lessons. IHCWAY took care of everything else. On top of the convenience, it really is a fun experience. All of the students are learning English for different reasons, and you really get to know your students through the one-on-one teaching method. Lastly, my favorite thing about IHCWAY is the atmosphere of teaching in a cafe. Teaching in casual attire, in a place with a relaxed atmosphere seems to attract the most diverse and interesting of students, which makes teaching both easy and enjoyable. Ultimately, teaching at IHCWAY has been an extremely beneficial opportunity for me in terms of job experience, financials, as well as being enjoyable!

Regarding the free trial lesson at the first meeting with the student

We have decided to abolish  as of June ,2011.

Thus even if the student doesn't bring the ticket at the first time, please

cooperate in giving him / her a 30 minutes free trial lesson as before.

Every first meeting with the student is to be free for 30minutes without

the ticket.

I traveled to Japan looking for a life changing experience, and with assistance from IHCWAY, my adventure certainly increased with satisfaction. I want to thank IHCWAY for this wonderful opportunity. Every email from IHCWAY are professional, reliable and quick, which is why I never hesitate to ask any questions I might have. IHCWAY introduced many friendly students to me at a rapid speed. I honestly love meeting every single student of mine, so I try my best to organize my schedule to create all possible appointments. I feel highly privileged to have so many students. Each of them are extremely kind and interesting.

When my journey in Japan comes to an end, I will never forget or regret the experience I've acquired from IHCWAY. Truthfully, I'm not ready for home because Japan is a fantastic place! Moreover, thank you again IHCWAY for broadening my horizons!!

I have been most fortunate to have been given the opportunity to teach English through the IHCWAY system. When I first learned about the innovative IHCWAY teaching method, I was impressed by its emphasis on teaching the natural way of speaking English as opposed to translating each sentence from the end to the beginning. The method makes sense because it focuses on visualizing the entire picture of the sentence just as a native speaker does--much like learning a karaoke song. I can appreciate this approach because in my own Japanese language studies I too found myself translating each sentence from back to front, which I found way too slow and without a strong foundation.

As an IHCWAY teacher, I have met many great students who are so enthusiastic and diligent in their English studies. Actually, I learn just as much as my students, if not more--about Japan and its culture, how to approach learning a foreign language, and Japanese business life through the reflections of my students' work lives. IHCWAY preselects and screens each student that they refer to me, thereby ensuring that each of my students is highly professional and personable. In fact, every one of my students is more of a new friend than a customer of mine. The one-on-one lessons in a relaxed, conversational cafe-setting are so very much enjoyable and personable--it hardly seems like working, but more like having a good time talking with a good friend!

I highly recommend working for IHCWAY if you want to meet great people, learn more about the Japanese way of life, and experience the reward of helping very motivated students improve their English skills. It is such a pleasure for me to be able to travel around Tokyo meeting and sharing experiences with genuinely devoted students through the challenging, yet rewarding, language learning and teaching process. I cannot imagine a better way to truly see into Japan than by being an instructor for IHCWAY. It has definitely been a blessing for me!
